Treat Lauterbrunnen as a practical eating base rather than a food destination: the greatest concentration of groceries and tourist-facing restaurants is along Fuhren Main Street and near the station. Meals are expensive and choices thin out quickly toward the southern valley and in the smallest mountain hamlets, so a grocery picnic is often the sensible hiking-day move.
