Visas & entry
U.S., Canadian and full British-citizen passport holders are generally visa-free for tourist stays of up to 180 days, subject to border checks and proof of onward travel, accommodation and funds if requested. Air and yacht arrivals must complete the free digital Bermuda Arrival Card before travel; cruise passengers are exempt. Travelers from visa-controlled countries generally need a valid multiple-entry U.S., UK or Canadian visa/travel authorization and should verify current Bermuda government rules before booking.
Getting in
Getting around
Visitors cannot rent conventional cars. Hamilton-based travelers can cover a lot with buses and ferries, ideally using the Shorelink app and passes rather than relying on exact coins; ferries are especially useful for Dockyard. Reserve an electric minicar early if you need beach-at-your-own-pace freedom, while scooters are only sensible for confident riders comfortable with left-side traffic and narrow roads. Taxis and regulated app-booked rides are the low-stress choice after dark, with luggage or outside frequent transit hours.
Money
The Bermudian dollar (BMD) is fixed one-to-one with the U.S. dollar, and U.S. cash is widely accepted. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, but keep a small cash buffer for tips and small vendors; spend any BMD notes before leaving. Check bills for service charges, then tip roughly 15–20% where one is not included; this is an expensive island.
