Peru is open to leisure tourism and visitors are still coming, but travel is not low-friction right now. The main issues are crime, periodic unrest and strikes, and weather/earthquake-related transport disruptions, including occasional impacts on Machu Picchu access. Cards and ATMs generally work, but travelers should expect some route and regional security hassles.
