Redmond Municipal Airport: This is Bend’s real commercial airport, about 16.5 miles north. Take Cascades East Transit’s Bend–Redmond Airport service to Bend/Hawthorne Station: roughly 30–40 minutes and $15 each way. It is the sensible solo-traveler option when its limited schedule matches your flight. Otherwise pre-book a shared shuttle or use rideshare; expect roughly $40–75 one way, and do not count on an abundance of late-night cars.
Portland International Airport: Use PDX only when the airfare or nonstop route makes it worthwhile. CoBreeze runs from Portland/PDX to Bend via the Mount Hood corridor; allow about 4–5 hours and budget roughly $100 one way, subject to the timetable. A rental car is faster and more flexible—about 3–3.5 hours in clear conditions—but winter crossings of the Cascades can be slow or require traction equipment.
Hawthorne Station, Bend: Bend has no passenger rail station; Hawthorne Station (NE 4th & Hawthorne) is the intercity-bus hub. CoBreeze, Oregon Point, Pacific Crest/Amtrak Thruway and other regional buses stop here. Downtown is a short walk or quick local-bus/rideshare trip away; this is not a grand terminal, just a practical transfer point.
